What we collect
When you create an account we collect your name, email, phone number, mailing address, and photos of the front and back of your driver’s license. When you book a repair we collect details about your device and the problem, and optionally a device password you choose to share so we can test the repair.
Why we collect your license
The license photos exist for one purpose: verifying that the person who drops off and picks up a computer is its owner. This protects you from theft and us from fraud.
How license images are protected
License images are stored encrypted in a private bucket. Only the shop owner/administrator can view them; technicians cannot. Every single view is logged with who viewed it and when. We keep them for as long as your account is open, so you never have to send them twice, and they are permanently deleted when your account is closed — ask us any time and we’ll delete them sooner. Applications that are abandoned or declined are purged automatically after 90 days. We never sell, share, or use them for anything else.
Device passwords
If you share a device password, it is stored encrypted, visible only to the technician working on your machine and the administrator, and purged shortly after pickup. You can decline to share it — some repairs just take longer without it.
Emails
We send transactional emails only: account status, repair status, and receipts. No marketing without your explicit opt-in.
Your rights
You can request a copy or deletion of your data anytime — email hello@crashpadcomputers.com or call (573) 555-0142. Deletion removes your profile and documents; repair records are anonymized.
